About us
Hi, I’m Monika, the heart behind Monika’s European Kitchen.
Born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, I became a certified confectionary in 2008 and ran my own catering business for several years. When the Hungarian economy took a downturn I knew it was time for a fresh start. With $100 in my pocket and a dream, I found myself in New York City, the city “where dreams are made of” (credit to Alicia Keys). I soon became the head baker/chef at Cafe M, just steps away from the Empire State Building. Working in NYC allowed me to perfect my craft, discovering the unique qualities of American ingredients and learning the tastes of my new home.
Stronger together
Life took a beautifule turn when I met my husband, Chad, whose Eastern European heritage added a new connection to my own roots.
Together, we blend family recipes and traditional flavors to create dishes that celebrate our shared heritage. Chad’s mother, lovingly called Mema, is even working on a cookbook to preserve these treasures.
At Monika’s European Kitchen, we believe food brings people together – it’s the universal language of love and connection.
Whether you meet us at a pop-up market, a food festival, or order someting tasty from our website, we can’t wait to share a taste of home with you.
If you have any special needs, requests or questions, please reach out via email or Instagram, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
